Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
A document issued by the manufacturer declaring that a product complies with all applicable legislation, standards, and directives.
A Declaration of Conformity is a self-issued statement by the manufacturer (or their authorized representative) confirming that a product meets the requirements of one or more applicable directives, regulations, or standards. In the EU, it is a prerequisite for CE Marking on most product categories.
What a DoC Contains
A typical DoC includes: identification of the manufacturer, identification of the product (type, model, serial range), the directives or regulations the product complies with, the harmonized standards used, any notified body involvement, and the signature of an authorized person.
How Certificate Management Software Helps
Declarations of Conformity are issued per product or product family and must be revised when the product or the applicable legislation changes. A certificate management platform keeps the current DoC and superseded versions linked to the right product revision β invaluable when an importer, customer, or surveillance authority asks for the documentation history.
Who needs this?
Manufacturers placing products on regulated markets β particularly the EU under CE Marking, but also UK (UKCA), USA, and other jurisdictions with similar self-declaration regimes.
